Gown Care
On receipt of your gown, we recommend that you unpack and hang the gown in a warm room to help any creases to drop out. A steamy bathroom is a good place to do this, taking care not to allow the gown to get wet.
Follow the care label is strongly recommended. Most garments can be lightly pressed inside out using a press cloth and a cool iron. If in doubt a dry cleaner should offer a pressing/steaming service. Do NOT iron taffeta. You should not use direct steam on garments with beadwork or decoration and always test on an inconspicuous area first.
Many gowns are embellished with hand sewn bead and sequin detailing, loose beads and sequins are normal even on new items and should be secured immediately where noticed to prevent further bead loss. Some sequins and beads are specially dyed to add to the exquisite design; this particular process can result in slight fading of the intensity of colour when cleaned. Special care should be taken to follow recommendations for cleaning to prevent deterioration.
Use of a garment cover will extend the life of your dress and keep it looking its best.
Heavy gowns are best stored flat as storing long-term on a hanger will cause them to lose shape, stretch and drop.
Alterations are a normal for occasion wear - you should consult a reputable seamstress regarding alterations but we are happy to assist with queries prior to purchase.
